A HUGE thanks

to Kathee Rebernak who made it possible for me to have time off from life to read and write and stare at the river.

Back from Vermont and Life just keeps churning along.  Looks like that update will be a recap.  When I've got a minute.

Got my ticket for Boston where I'm reading on August 29
In Philadelphia the week prior.  Details when I've got more than a minute.

An upcoming gig as a Guest Editor for an online magazine.

An image published in the latest issue of Marathon: http://marathonlitreview.com/?p=900

as well as various rejections, but whatever.

Half way point

Been in Vermont for two weeks and a day now.

Update forthcoming.

In the middle of writing what (I believe) will be #3 on my list of favorite Gwendolyn Joyce Mintz stories.

I'll get back here.  But, in the meantime, I'm writing:)

Vermont is thisclose

Days away from leaving for the residency.  Problems packing:  I want to take all the books in my writing room!

It's scary -- the idea that all I have to do is write.  That I can be supported, to be allowed to follow my dream.  But I'm going to move on past that feeling and honor the time set aside for me and write.

Quote for May 8, 2015

“The scariest moment is always just before you start.”
-- Stephen King

Counting the days. . .

headed to Vermont for the residency the beginning of June.

I'm really really really going to try to finish up those 65ish stories I've been lugging through the years, including four which would complete a linked short story collection.  Wouldn't that be something?

An acceptance and a publication here, here, and here

I have a work upcoming in Change Seven Magazine.

My tiny work "Longing" just came out in  Thrice Fiction

and "Watson's Girl" in Miracle Monocle

and a photograph "wind warriors" is in Twisted Vine Literary Arts Journal

Take 2

I was unable to go to the Vermont Studio Center years back when they gave me a residency.  Life, including a broken wrist.  They held a space for me as long as they could, too.

Well, second chances and all that.

I have been awarded a fellowship that pays for everything and includes a $2000 stipend.  SO EXCITED.

"The Voices Rising Fellowship is awarded to an African American woman fiction writer in honor of women writers of color such as Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and Zora Neale Hurston."

Humbled as well.

Yay me!
