Nov 30/Dec 1 staring me in the face
Submission/contest deadlines when you're not quite ready--argh.
Sometimes I have the luxury of not having to work a lot or at all and sometimes I have to get a "real job" 'cause, well, I like eating. That is the current case. Working retail-- lots of ideas/lines/etc. -- but it takes up time(!!!!).
Writing quote for 11-26-2012
I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.

This I Like Redux
Woke up yesterday to an acceptance. An anthology from Pure Slush, out of Australia. Way cool.
Also I've got two works coming up in a flash fiction anthology from Ink Monkey Press.
There was an anthology I wanted to submit to but the deadline has passed, but the editor said if I can get my story in today, they'll give it a look. So I've got a story to write. Adios.

5-4=1
Five stories out, four came back. I do not like this rejection thing! got three of the four back out and it's been a few days so maybe there's hope-- rejections come back fast.
Reminiscing back to the days when mags used to solicit work from me and that day when I got 5 acceptances. I haven't been writing like I should, even before I broke my wrist, so I have no one to blame but Gwendolyn Joyce Mintz, still I miss those days!

back to bizness
Broke my wrist this summer, got the cast off a few weeks ago. Occupational therapy getting my fingers back --that means back to the computer and back to submitting. Five stories today.
Working on a new piece that I think is probably going to become my most favorite work by Gwendolyn Joyce Mintz.
Tendons are a little tight around the wrist and it's a bit uncomfortable typing, but man it feels good getting back to submitting and getting my work out there.

A Nashville reading-- I can cross TN off the list next month
I have been invited to read at "Woman's Work 2012" sponsored by the Tennessee Woman's Theater Project, May 4-20. I read on the 17th.
I'll be posting more info later. My oldest daughter, who lives in Nashville, is going to do spoken word and have some paintings exhibited at the same event.

unbelieveable . . . but not really
It's almost five o'clock. Just awhile ago, I was just sitting down to the computer and it was 11 something.
Spent the day writing. Working on a children's chapter book that I started years ago. I got a contest entry in today too.
I got this scholarship that allows me to do this program and work with Eric Maisel who wrote this book I love called "Deep Writing." The class is called "Your Best Life in the Arts." I'm going to start today.

another rejection. . . kind of
Sent a poem to a children's mag (online). A while ago. I was clearing out submissions to journals that had never responded and I had no desire to query. Forget you, as Cee-Lo would say.
Anyway, I decided that I would inquire about the poem and I got a note that said the poem was very cute but they had too many poems. Still it's going to be put on file though I was told to submit it elsewhere. Which I plan to do.

Writing again and FI-NAL-LY!!
Lots of personal stuff taking my time, but slowly I'm getting back regularly to the computer.
But I have been able to get some stories out. Have acquired two rejections.
Am working through this workbook for writing practice. I entered 2012 determined to do an exercise a day, but that didn't happen. It's a new month, though, and I'm gonna try to make my writing a greater priority and do it DAILY!
