headed to Vermont for the residency the beginning of June.
I'm really really really going to try to finish up those 65ish stories I've been lugging through the years, including four which would complete a linked short story collection. Wouldn't that be something?
I was unable to go to the Vermont Studio Center years back when they gave me a residency. Life, including a broken wrist. They held a space for me as long as they could, too. Well, second chances and all that. I have been awarded a fellowship that pays for everything and includes a $2000 stipend. SO EXCITED.
"The Voices Rising Fellowship is awarded to an African American woman fiction writer in honor of women writers of color such as Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and Zora Neale Hurston." Humbled as well.
Yay me!
