I'm going to be a writer groupie at the book festival

Going through the list of writers that are going to be at the Montana Book Festival.  Names I recognize and admire--

yes, I'm going to be all giddy.

The dream is to come back with lots of autographed books!

Reading tomorrow.  So excited.

no, GJM, no. no, no

Last stories sent out have all come back :(

I hope you're reading writing and enjoying poetry right now.

Another blog

I moved my pictures to another blog.  It is here

So I got my copy of Microchondria III and I re-read my story and it is something I am really proud of.  There was a 500-word limit and I think that another 20-30 words would put it where I want it to be.  But it's still pretty damn good.

Can't wait till February of next year when the Harvard Bookstore does it again!

This would never get published but I am quite amused with it

But normally I’m very non-violent

The birds outside my window
chirping away like I’m just
as happy     what right do they
have?  If only the slingshot from
my youth—ping ping ping—they’d
share in my sorrow

Dear Gwendolyn -- You've been accepted at Harvard!

Okay, the book store.

For the past three years the Harvard Book Store does this:

The shortest month of the year is upon us. To celebrate this little month, Harvard Book Store is once again making a little book of short, short stories.
We are excited to announce Microchondria III: More Short Short Stories Collected by Harvard Book Store.

As in years past, this book can’t happen without your participation. We need your writing and design to make this leap month count.
Starting Monday, February 1st, you’ll have just under two weeks to write and submit stories of no more than 500 words. Then Harvard Book Store staff will have two weeks to review the submissions, pick their favorites, and assemble them into a book that we will print in-store on Paige, our book-making robot.

On March 11th, we’ll celebrate the book’s publication with an in-store launch party featuring selected readings by some of the collection’s contributors. We’ll be printing copies during the event, so you can learn more about custom book printing and get a book hot off the presses.
They accepted one of my stories. I've been instructed to be on the lookout for my invite-- don't know if it's to read or just to go party--but I can't go either way. Maybe. Don't know yet. Would have to find someone to cover my class and I'd have to count my pennies.

Still, yay!

PR

Spent the day on promo stuff for my chapbook.

Hope these seeds I'm planting come to fruition.

Sometimes the logistics of a story just come as you write the story

Sometimes you've got to get a loooooong piece of freezer paper and work it out.

Monday, February 15, 2016

Okay, tonight it's something different

and I've got 2 hours and 32 minutes to get it together.

Sunday, February 14, 2016

Three hours and seven minutes

It's taking shape. . .

I hate when I do this

Wait till the last minute to work on a story to submit it.

Submittable telling me I have 3 hours and 45 minutes.  Trying not to get distracted by the news, Facebook or BINGO.

Thought I had worked the story out in my head and I'd just be transcribing.  Ha!

And darn it, Gwendolyn!

Got accepted for a writer's conference in Minnesota.  Excited.  Looks like there is opportunity for a reading and that means I can knock another state off my list! Yay!

One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.

The cover from my upcoming chapbook (artwork by my daughter Ashley)

I did get something done

Up most of the night writing a 10-minute play which I'd been struggling with and then the words just started pouring.  But I didn't meet the 1/31 deadline because it needed to sit a day or two and I didn't give myself that day or two.

I have to stop waiting till the last minute OR how about you get back to writing regular so you have stories ready to go when a deadline comes up.  How 'bout that? Ha!

It's a good play though.

And today's another deadline.  I just might get that story completed and sent :-p

Jan 31 and Feb 1

have deadlines and I have no finished stories.  I will be up allllllllllll night.

moving day

This is going to be my writing blog.  Moved photos/images here.

Next goal is to clean up the links for my stories.  So many broken but I'll leave up the publication info.

And two art shows!

Forgot to mention that.

Had two pictures up at the West End Art Depot and another at a GAMBAZine's launch and anniversary party.  That was in Brooklyn.  Would've been fun to attend that.

Well, it has been a minute

since I've been here.  So much happened/and is going on.

Taught a creative writing class and that was so wonderful, watering those young dreams.

Lazy a bit about my own work but did manage to get a few things out.

So . . .

had another photo in the "quietly" beautiful  A Quiet Courage

I had a poem published in the way cool Poetry Superhighway under the umbrella of Poet of the Week

I had another poem published in this anthology and my photo as part of the cover!

I had a micro work published in Post Card Poems and Prose

I won a chapbook contest and my chapbook (with a painting that my daughter ashleymintz.weebly.com did) as the cover will come out in a few months

I'm guest-editing the summer issue of Blue Lyra Review.  Yes, send me something!
